Overview

The 2008 Chevrolet Suburban sport utility vehicle comes in as many as 18 trims. It is a complete carryover from 2007.

Powertrain and warranty

The lowest trim, the LS 1500 2 WD, comes with a standard 5.3-liter, V-8 engine producing 320 horsepower. The highest trim, the LT 3 2500 4 WD, has the most powerful engine among the trims: a 6.0-liter V-8 producing 352 horsepower. While the 1500 has a four-speed automatic transmission with standard overdrive, the 2500’s transmission is six-speed automatic with standard overdrive.

Build and styling

The 2008 Suburban is more spacious. The seven-seater SUV also offers the option of nine seats. An OnStar navigation system; triple-zone automatic climate control; single-disc CD player with Bose speakers and a remote game plug-in complement the inside. On the outside, the look is chiseled. New grills and a more aerodynamic appearance are the outstanding external features.

Safety features

GM’s StabiliTrack stability control; head curtain air bags; four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock and many more devices are standard. Upgraded steering and suspension make the 2008 Suburban better able to avoid crashes. The 2008 Suburban earned full scores on a number of vital parameters in government safety tests.
