Overview |
The 2008 Chevrolet HHR is a smooth, quiet wagon with plenty of cargo space, attractive cabin and excellent outward visibility. Improvements and updates have made it a good choice among the small wagons. For 2008, the HHR receives minor changes. It competes with Chrysler PT Cruiser, Dodge Caliber, Pontiac Vibe and a redesigned Scion xB. It is available in LS and LT trims. The compact 2008 Chevrolet HHR has a front-wheel-drive configuration and is available as a regular four-door wagon or a two-seat Panel variant with solid and handle-less rear doors. |
Powertrain and performance |
The HHR lineup relies on the renowned Ecotec family of technologically sophisticated inline four-cylinder engines balancing usable power with fuel and emissions efficiency. The standard engine for LS and 1LT models is the Ecotec 2.2-liter Ecotec engine rated at 149 horsepower and 152 pound-feet of torque. The Ecotec 2.4-liter four-cylinder is available on the 1LT and standard on the 2LT. Both are backed by a standard five-speed manual transmission, with a four-speed automatic as optional. The EPA estimates for the HHR are 22 miles per gallon in city areas and 28 mpg on highways. |
Body and Styling |
The LS model has 16-inch steel wheels; air conditioning with cabin filtration; cruise control; keyless entry; a fold-flat front passenger seat; a 60/40-split-folding rear seat; full power accessories; and a six-speaker CD stereo with an auxiliary audio jack. The LT trim is actually available in two packages: standard 1LT and enhanced sportier 2LT. The interior of the 2008 Chevrolet HHR is roomy and designed for better functionality.
